Meet The Team
Dr. Emily Chapel
Dr. Emily Chapel is originally from Michigan and attended Michigan State University, graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelors degree in Veterinary Technology and later as valedictorian of her Veterinary Medicine class in 2013. Emily completed a one-year rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at The Ohio State University. She stayed on for a three-year residency in Cardiology and completed a Masters degree in veterinary science with a research focus that was on canine mitral valve disease. She moved to Culver City, CA with her husband in 2017 and has fallen in love with Southern California. She opened Pure Animal Cardiology because she wanted to create a specialty clinic where pet owners felt directly involved in the care of their pets with complete transparency.
Clinically, Emily enjoys diagnosing and managing heart diseases and working closely with both the pet’s family and primary care veterinarians to optimize therapy and improve outcomes. She also enjoys working with rescue organizations and shelters to provide low-cost specialty services.
Outside of the hospital, Emily enjoys strength training, traveling, and spending time with her two children, Caroline and Benoit, her husband, Laurent, and her pets Atis, Birdie, and Mouse. She still makes it back to Michigan every chance she gets.

Daisy
Daisy was born in Ventura, California, and grew up between Washington State and Texas. Her love for animals started at age 11 when her family adopted their first pet—a gray pit bull named Dyno. Over the years, her household was filled with all kinds of pets, from birds and iguanas to fish and dogs.
After completing her nursing prerequisites at Modesto Junior College in 2009, Daisy moved to Seattle, Washington, where she started her family. In 2019, she relocated to Los Angeles and began working with VCA. A couple of years later, in early 2021, she joined Dr. Chapel’s team as a receptionist and has since grown into her current role as Clinic Coordinator at Pure Animal Cardiology.
Daisy is truly the heart of the clinic. She keeps everything running smoothly—scheduling appointments, managing medications and prescriptions, and making sure patients stay on track with follow-ups.
Outside of work, Daisy enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons, and their two dogs—Chloe (a Yorkie) and Roman (a Poodle mix). She also loves going on walks, visiting Disneyland, and watching Netflix favorites like New Amsterdam

Karina
Karina grew up in Los Angeles, California, and discovered her love for animals when her family adopted their first dog—a chihuahua named Gurrumina—when she was just three years old. That early connection sparked a lifelong passion for animal care. She went on to study Veterinary Technology at Los Angeles Pierce College, graduating in 2022 with her Associate of Science degree. Right now, she’s preparing to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).
During school, Karina interned at several vet clinics, which helped her land her first job at a Specialty Animal Hospital in early 2018. She started out in the Neurology department, working with pets dealing with neurological issues, then moved over to Cardiology later that year. That’s where she met Dr. Chapel, who became a mentor and helped her dive deeper into the world of veterinary cardiology. Karina is a true-blue member of the PAC team and has been with Dr. Chapel the longest.
When she’s not working, Karina enjoys dancing, listening to music, hanging out with her niece and nephew, and watching The Good Doctor. She lives with her two furry sidekicks: Mia, a shih-tzu, and Garfield, a fluffy medium-haired cat.
